Migration is the process of transferring applications and data to a different platform or provider.
The hardest part is rarely copying the data. It lies in: undocumented dependencies, scheduled tasks and integrations with external systems, acceptable downtime during migration, and rollback procedures if an incident occurs.
Three actions to take before every migration: create an acceptance checklist, perform an independent backup not dependent on any provider, and lower the TTL of the DNS record several days in advance.
